Sesames has won many awards over the years in the "Restaurant Caterer's Awards

 for Excellence".

  In 2003, 2005 and 2006, Sesames held the  title of "Best Asian Restaurant in NSW" and  won Best Asian Restaurant in the Hunter Region in 2007.

       "Sesames on the Lake" won the title of

          Best BYO Restaurant in 2009 and

 “Best Asian Restaurant in the Hunter”

in 2011.

“Sesames- A Taste of Asia” opened in the Junction, Newcastle in 1998. The Junction business was sold in 2007 after original owners Tevy Kang-Kem & Brad Cooper moved to Lake Macquarie.

 

Taking their successful formula from The Junction to the beautiful relaxed surroundings of Belmont Bay…”Sesames on the Lake” has become a hidden treasure nestled in a quiet street a few doors back from the Belmont foreshore. Lake residents and holiday makers have had the delight of enjoying the award winning modern Thai fusion cuisine for 9 years.

 

The busy Belmont restaurant has a relaxed ambience often described by visitors as “Noosa inspired”. Great care has been taken in the design of the restaurant with acoustic insulation on the ceilings, carpeted floors and fully-insulated walls to absorb noise.

 

Tevy’s Cambodian father and English mother have had a huge influence in the Sesame’s success story. ”We’ve gone through a transition over the last 14 years starting with authentic Thai and Cambodian meals to a now more modern blend of “East meets West”. “We strive for consistency, using the freshest herbs and vegetables and distinct flavours in each dish. We’ve carefully selected dishes from different regions of South East Asia, maintaining their traditional flavours and enhancing them with our own modern unique twist.”

Fusion style dishes that have been created over the years get their time on centre stage in the Signature Dish section of the menu. These dishes change seasonally and always make a come-back for the Sesames “foodies”.

 

The entrée “Scallops in the half shell, steamed with fresh lemongrass, kaffir lime & coconut cream” just melts in your mouth and the entrée Sashimi beef cured in lemon, lime juice & fresh coriander is a constant winner with diners.

The Salt & Pepper whole fresh Snapper crispy fried Thai style and served on julienne vegetables, finished with a caramelised fresh chilli and garlic dressing is just one of the signature dishes that gets rave reviews. The twice cooked duck in Cinnamon, Soy & 5 spice is another favourite.
